
Danny Schoening
CEO
Danny Schoening serves as Chief Executive Officer for Optex Systems Inc. where he has been instrumental in establishing the systems and infrastructure required to execute the company’s rapid growth. This activity was rewarded with Optex System's recent ISO9001:2008 Certification.
Mr. Schoening previously served as the Vice President of Operations for The Finisar Corporation AOC Division for 4 years where he led a team of up to 200 employees to produce vertical cavity lasers for the data communications industry at production rates of hundreds of thousands of units per week. Prior to Finisar, Mr. Schoening was the Director of Operations for multiple divisions of Honeywell International, serving the automotive, medical, aerospace, and consumer commercial markets. During this 17-year period, Mr. Schoening was recognized with Honeywell’s Lund Award, their highest award for developing employee resources.
Mr. Schoening has a broad experience level in mechanical assembly processes, micro-electronic assembly processes, laser manufacturing, plastic molding, metal machining, plating, thick film printing, surface mount technology, hall effect technology and MEMS based pressure devices. Mr. Schoening received a Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering Technology from the University of Nebraska, an MBA from Southern Methodist University, and holds three United States Patents.

Stanley A. Hirschman
President
Stan A. Hirschman serves as the President of Optex Systems Inc. As an investment due diligence specialist, and a regulatory and reasonable corporate governance specialist, he oversees the operations and rapid growth of the organization. Additionally, Mr. Hirschman serves as the President of CPointe Associates, an executive management and retail operations consulting firm, and formerly served as a director of Axion Power International, South Texas Oil and Datascension.
Mr. Hirschman previously served as chairman for Mustang Software, Inc. where he was directly involved in the initiative to increase shareholder value which led to the successful acquisition of the company by Quintus Corporation. Mr. Hirschman has also held executive positions with T.J. Maxx, Gap Stores, and Banana Republic.
Mr. Hirschman is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors, the KMPG Audit Committee Institute, and is a graduate of the Harvard Business School Audit Committees in the New Era of Governance Symposium. He currently serves on the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Centers.

Merrick D. Okamoto
Chairman of the Board
Merrick D. Okamoto serves as Chairman of the Board for Optex Systems Inc. where he oversees operational activities of the company. Additionally, Mr. Okamoto currently serves as President and Managing Member of Viking Asset Management, LLC where he performs due diligence, research, runs trading operations, and structures investment opportunities for the company. Since 1983 he has actively worked in the securities industry.
Mr. Okamoto co-founded and served as President for TradePortal.com Inc. in 1999 where he was instrumental in developing the proprietary Trade Matrix™ software platform. His negotiations were key in selling a minority stake in TradePortal.com to Thomson Financial, a US $6 billion revenue company. Mr. Okamoto has held Vice President positions with Shearson Lehman Brothers, Prudential Securities and Paine Webber, and was the founder of First Stage Capital, Inc., which specialized in investment banking and consulting to public and private companies.
Mr. Okamoto is widely recognized as an advanced trader specializing in short-term trading with sector momentum and has more than 25 years of experience in technical market analysis techniques. He has been a frequent speaker at national on-line trading venues. From 1987 to 1990, he hosted the television program, The Income Report.

Michael M. Aldrich
VP, Business Development
Mike Aldrich serves as the Vice President for Business Development for Optex Systems Inc. where he identifies and secures new revenue opportunities for the provider of the most reliable sighting systems in the world. Mr. Aldrich joined the team in May of 2011 to fill a pivotal role in the continual expansion of Optex.
Prior to joining Optex, he held a similar position with Burtek Inc., a Michigan-based defense supplier, preparing him for his current role supplying sighting systems primarily to the United States Government. Mr. Aldrich played a key part at Force Protection, taking the organization from its early start up stages to a $1.3 billion company in six and one-half years. He led the company’s business development, marketing, and government and investor relations.
Mr. Aldrich was a commissioned officer in United States Army where he served assignments in field artillery focusing on cost-justified technology upgrades and systems integration. He received his undergraduate degree from the United States Military Academy in 1972 and received a Masters degree from the University of Southern California.

Karen Hawkins
VP, Finance and Controller
Karen Hawkins serves as the Vice President of Finance and Controller for Optex Systems Inc. Ms. Hawkins is a Certified Public Accountant with over 22 years of experience in financial accounting and management, primarily focused in the defense and transportation industries.
Ms. Hawkins previously served as Controller and Program Manager for General Dynamics – Ordinance and Tactical Division - Garland for over 13 years. During her tenure there, Ms. Hawkins managed a 3 year $250M Army IDIQ contract, as well as oversaw purchasing, production control, and warehousing functions. Prior to her employment at General Dynamics, Ms. Hawkins served in various finance and accounting positions at Luminator, a Mark IV Industries Co, and Johnson Controls, Battery Division - Garland.
Ms. Hawkins has a strong background in both financial and cost accounting, with extensive government pricing, financial analysis, and internal auditing experience. Her past history also includes program management, materials management and business development. She brings over 14 years of direct experience in government contracting with a strong expertise in CAS/FAR.
