Optex Systems, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and innovative Optical Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing optical systems and components. This role requires a strong foundation in optical engineering principles, as well as proficiency in system design and project scheduling. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical expertise and creativity to contribute to cutting-edge projects.
Seeking applicants with the following qualifications:
- Must be either a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Must have strong manufacturing experience.
- Must be able to work on-site in a full-time, regular position on day shift.
- Must live within commuting distance to our Richardson, Texas location.
- Must be able to pass a drug screen and a background check.
- Must be able to work on-site on day shift Monday - Friday.
- Bachelor’s degree in Physics coupled with 2-4 years’ work experience as an Optical Engineer
Duties
- Design and develop optical systems, including lenses, mirrors, and sensors.
- Conduct simulations using tools such as Simulink to model optical performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project milestones are met.
- Utilize CAD software for creating detailed designs and schematics.
- Implement logic controllers for automated optical testing processes.
- Perform debugging of optical systems to identify and resolve issues.
- Use an Ohmmeter for testing electrical components within optical systems.
- Ensure compliance with NEC standards in all engineering practices.
- Participate in project scheduling to align resources and timelines effectively.
- Provide technical support during the manufacturing and assembly of optical products.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in system design principles and project scheduling methodologies.
- Experience with Simulink for simulation of optical systems is preferred.
- Strong skills in CAD software for design purposes.
- Familiarity with logic controllers and their application in optical engineering.
- Knowledge of using an Ohmmeter for electrical testing is advantageous.
- Understanding of NEC standards related to optical engineering practices.
- Proven debugging skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex systems effectively.
- Experience with ARM architecture is a plus but not required.
